Desi Arnaz, Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III, (born March 2, 1917, Santiago, Cuba—died December 2, 1986, Del Mar, California, U.S.), Cuban-born American musician, actor, and business executive who was best known for the classic television series I Love Lucy (1951–57), in which he starred with his real-life wife, Lucille Ball. As the show’s cocreator and producer, Arnaz introduced a number of innovations that revolutionized television and laid the groundwork for the modern sitcom.
