Julián Castro: born September 16, 1974) is an American lawyer and politician from San Antonio. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the youngest member of President Obama's cabinet, serving as the 16th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2014 to 2017. Castro served as the mayor of his native San Antonio, Texas from 2009 until he joined Barack Obama's cabinet in 2014.

Ochoa studied electrical engineering at Stanford University, earning a master’s degree (1981) and a doctorate (1985). A specialist in the development of optical systems, she worked as a research engineer at Sandia National Laboratories and at the Ames Research Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She helped create several systems and methods that were awarded patents, including optical systems for the detection of imperfections in a repeating pattern and for the recognition of objects.

Born in Matanzas, Cuba to a professional musician father and an actress mother, she opted for a musical life and chose to study violin at age 8. Her passion for music has taken her on a journey around the world and across musical styles.

Dear Parents and Guardians of Westport Students,

Westport is growing! We are experiencing a surge in enrollment this school year. Therefore, we have to transition some students into new classes and reorganize for the school year. There is a lot of thought and staff input that goes into these decisions and we do not make the move without taking many factors into consideration.

The final reorganization will be made by the District Norm Day deadline of Friday, September 15, 2023. We will notify families of the students who will be transitioning to a new class. We know that you might have some questions. You can leave a message for the principal if you have specific concerns not to be shared in a general office hour setting.
